Portugal Residency Visa

PropertyLisbon possesses numerous years of experience in providing consultancy and advisory services to people who are looking to acquire a Portugal residency visa. There are many different ways and routes that can lead one towards becoming a permanent resident in the country of Portugal, and after sharing our expert advice on the matter with them, we can then assist them with all of the necessary and required paperwork as well.
Whether one is looking to move overseas for business or for pleasure, we promise to show them how they can obtain a Portugal residency visa.

The Portugal Residency Visa for The EU, The EEA, and The Swiss Citizens

If you one is citizen of the country of Switzerland, or a citizen of any of the European Union countries or any of the other nations that exist within the European Economic Area, there are only two requirements that they need to fulfill in order to obtain a Portugal residency visa.
First and foremost, they will need to visit a Tax Office – the

Repartição de Finanças – or a Citizen’s Shop – the Loja do Cidadão – and get registered there for the purpose of taxation. After that comes the visit of their nearest town hall – the Câmara Municipal – where one can register with the Portuguese Foreigners and Borders Agency – the SEF -. The Residence Certificate that they obtain there will be valid for five years, after which it must be swapped for a Permanent Residence Certificate before the expiry date. This process is done through and completed at the SEF office, and not at the Town Hall. If one is a citizen of the United Kingdom, it is now likely that there will be a lengthy Brexit transition period, which should make this process identical for the citizens of the UK in the foreseeable future.

The Portugal Residency Visa for Non-EU / EEA / Switzerland Dependent Family Members

After the registration of a citizen of the country of Switzerland, or a citizen of any of the European Union countries or any of the other nations that exist within the European Economic Area, their spouse that is not a citizen of the country of Switzerland, or a citizen of any of the European Union countries or any of the other nations that exist within the European Economic Area, – or the common law spouse of at least three years -, the dependent children and dependent parents may also apply for the Portugal residency visa, which is renewable every five years.
