Is the Silver Coast Portugal a good place to buy a property?

Many people have never even visited the Silver Coast in Portugal as it maybe seems a bit far to travel from the typical holiday resorts of the Algarve and even from the city of Lisbon. Writing this as an Expat myself and someone who has traveled every inch of Portugal I can certainly say for some people the Silver Coast is simply heaven on earth! When you head along the coast from Lisbon you can visit places that are very well known like Cascais and then Sintra, these are not the Silver Coast and we like to call that the Lisbon Coast, so when I refer to the Silver Coast or Costa Da Prata we are talking from Lourinha UP to Obidos, the Sao Martinho Do Porto Bay then Nazare, anything further up we don’t feels offer the kind of villages and beach towns our buyers would want, plus keeping the driving time from Lisbon within 45 minutes is important when looking at it being an investment. One thing the Silver Coast does have is beaches, 100s of unspoiled clean white sandy beaches, some are miles in length and have no cafe, bar, buildings or lifeguards on, they can literally be your own private beach. For example between the beautiful bay of Sao Martinho and the famous Nazare town you have a stretch called Praia do Salgado which is a great example of what you can find here, i have often visited this and taken to time to just be at one with the ocean. Back to property on the Silver Coast, it basically offers everything the Algarve does but without the crowds of British tourists and without the mass of Bars and nightclubs I’m not saying all the Algarve has that but most is very developed on that front. The Silver Coast has all sorts of bars but mainly local ones offer 1 Euro beers and local homecooked food, i do recall in 2017 when an Irish bar first opened in Nazare it was something of a revelation, and just having ONE was quite nice as it was a HUB for live music and didn’t disrupt the whole town. Villas for sale on the Silver Coast of Portugal can work out by the square meter to be the cheapest Real Estate in Portugal depending if you want the sea view or not you can buy 3-4 bedrooms from 250,000 Euro with the Pool. The overall cost on average is half the price of the Algarve and the quality of the property location will be more secluded ie fewer buildings around you. There are plenty of detached stand-alone Villas you buy on your own plot of land here that are not part of a larger development. If you want a Villa on a resort then many of the best ones are on the Golf Courses which can be found around Obidos the famous historic Castle town, prices one the golf resorts are still cheaper than the Algarve but certainly not by 50%. Modern Apartments on the Silver Coast 2015 have been popping up and expanding mostly Nazare and Sao Martinho and lesser-known towns like Lourinha. There could never be to many built die to strict planning laws so what they have no near the beach is all they will ever have, which works well for future capital growth. You can buy apartments on the Silver coast from 99,000 EURO up to 200,000 which will usually cater for everyone who needs 1 to 3 bedrooms most of which have balconies and a shared pool. The towns and villages i have mentioned are just a few on the whole Coast but if you want a bit of everything and not feel stuck then these are the best to buy, live, explore and rent the property out.
