The most expensive municipality in terms of property in the country of Portugal is unsurprisingly the city of Lisbon – A square meter in the city of Lisbon is worth twenty two hundred Euros, according to the Statistics Portugal – the INE.
The prices of housing in the country of Portugal continue to increase. Over the last twelve months, and until the end of the second quarter of 2017, the median value of a family house sold in the country of Portugal stands at eight hundred ninety six Euros per square meter, which represents an over six percent increase in comparison to the second quarter of the previous year – the 2016.
There are, however, significant discrepancies among the different regions in the country of Portugal – From the most expensive municipality of the country, the city of Lisbon, to the cheapest, there is a twenty one hundred and twenty five Euros per square meter difference. These figures have been disclosed last by the Statistics Portugal – the INE – last Tuesday, clarifying that the “median value” – the value that separates the sorted set of prices per square meter in two equal parts – is used as a reference for house sales – Euro per square meter – which allows to remove the effect of extreme values from the analysis of the house transaction market at the local level. This means that, considering that eight hundred and ninety six Euros is a median price per square meter of a family home in the country of Portugal, the INE has identified a total of forty one municipalities in which the prices of the same type of property surpass those charged in the rest of the country. The city of Lisbon is, by far, the most expensive municipality in the country of Portugal. Each square meter of a housing property in the capitol of Portugal is worth a median amount of twenty two hundred and thirty one Euros.
This amount also represents a homologous increase – The prices of housing properties in the city of Lisbon have skyrocketed by fifteen percent in comparison to the second quarter of 2016.
Second to the city of Lisbon come the city of Cascais, where the prices of housing properties stand at eighteen hundred Euros per square meter, the city of Loulé, where the prices of housing properties stand at sixteen hundred and fifty Euros per square meter, and the city of Lagos, where the prices of housing properties stand at fifteen hundred and fifty five Euros per square meter.
