Portugal – Recreation and Entertainment

There are almost endless options for entertainment in Portugal, and no matter what your tastes are, you are guaranteed to find opportunities and events that are the best possible fit for your tastes.

Recreation and Entertainment
Outdoor activities are particularly popular with the Portuguese. The people of Portugal love parks and beaches, and enjoy taking walks and organizing picnics for their friends and families.

Beautiful beaches spread all over the long coastline Portugal has, are one of the greatest sources of pride for Portuguese people, and they provide both the nationals and the tourists with opportunities for all kinds of water sports. Scuba, surfing, and sailing are particularly popular.
Pelo Negro, a complex of shallow undersea canyons, located not far from both Leça da Palmeira beach and Porto, is one of the most popular Scuba activity sites for both the Portuguese and the foreigners. It is, however, just one of the many water sports activity sites that could be found on almost any of the beautiful Portuguese beaches.
Pedra de Lagoa, Maria Eduarda, and Arcanzil, are only few of the best examples of these amazing activity sites, and many more alike can be found along the Algrave coast.

Beaches and water sports are not the only water-based fun activities you can find in Portugal. Our country also has numerous water parks, some of which are arguably one of the largest and most exciting water parks in all of Europe. The largest water parks you can find in Portugal are: Side and Splash(near Lagoa), AquaShow(near Quarteria), and Aqualand(near Alcantarilha).

If you are interested in marine life, Portugal has many sites, most of them located near Lisbon in the Algarve, where you will have the opportunity to go whale or doplhin watching, a rather popular activity among tourists especially. If that is not enough, the Zoomarina Park near Albufeira, also offers opportunities to go swimming with the dolphines. It has an offering of a large aquarium, fair ground rides, and tame sea lions, among many other things.
The Ocenarium in Lisbon’s Expo area is also worth mentioning, and also rather high on our list of places we recommend you visit while in Portugal.
