Living in Portugal – International Schools in Portugal

It is worth mentioning that Portugal has a considerable selection of international and English schools to offer.
Algarve in particular offers a rather high standard of education to both foreign and Portuguese children and young people.
The international education programs in Portugal vary, ranging from the British GCSE and GCE education systems to the International Baccalaureate (I.B.) program.

Cascais

– St. Julian’s School is a co-educational institution with programs for children aged between three and eighteen, located in Carcavelos. Its educational program is provided in both Portuguese and English, and it follows the National Curriculum of the Portuguese Ministry of Education.
The English department has both primary and secondary education programs, and it prepares its students for the IGCSE and GCSE exams.

– Cabo da Roca International English School, also known as CIES, has a unique approach to its students, providing them with not only excellent education programs, but also with a close student-teacher relationships and nurturing environment.  It is located in Cascais, and it is one of the most affordable privately-owned schools in Portugal.
The school’s system of education offers British Degree Programs, such as Diploma in Business and Information Technology, Foundation Level, Postgraduate Diploma, and Bachelor Degree.

Lisbon

– Carlucci American International School of Lisbon, also known as CAISL, is located in the Portuguese capitol and it offers educational programs for children aged between two and eighteen. The school’s system of education is based around American Curriculum, the goal of which is to prepare the students for the higher education institutions in either Portugal, the United States, or the United Kingdom. The school provides its graduates with an I.B. (International Baccalaureate) Diploma.

– Lycée Francais is the only currently-existing French school in Portugal. It is located in Lisbon, at the very entry to the city from the Cascais-Lisbon A5 motorway, and it offers both primary and secondary education programs. For students living in Cascais or Estoril, the school would be no more than twenty-five minutes away by car. This area also has a reliable school transport services.
