Fourteen Portuguese Golden Visas have been issued to the citizens of the United States who, along with the citizens of Vietnam, have overtaken the citizens of Russia and South Africa in the volumes of applications for the Portuguese Golden Visa program.
In the first quarter of 2019, however, the investment from the citizens of China from the Authorisation of Residency through investment – the Portuguese Golden Visa program – has plummeted by forty one percent.
The Portuguese Golden Visas for the citizens of China have netted fifty nine point six million Euros for the country of Portugal according to the latest information that has been released by the Portuguese immigration and border authorities – the SEF -. The investment from the nationals of China compares to the first quarter of 2018 when it stood at on hundred and one million Euros.

By the month of March in 2018, only one hundred and seven Portuguese Golden Visas were issued to the citizens of China, compared to the one hundred and eighty three Portuguese Golden Visa that had been issued to the citizens of China in the same period the previous year. The investment from the citizens of Brazil, however, has increased by three point three percent for the first quarter of 2019 – to forty three million Euros with fifty eight Portuguese Golden Visas issued by the end of March this year -. In the first quarter of 2018, by comparison, forty nine Portuguese Golden Visas have been issued to the citizens of Brazil, bringing in a total of almost forty two million Euros. In regards to the Turkey sourced investment, this has fallen by fifty eight percent in the first three months of this year – to eighteen point four million Euros from thirty six Portuguese Golden Visas issued to the nationals of Turkey compared to the eighty Portuguese Golden Visas issued to the nationals of Turkey in the same period last year.
In regards to the list of nationalities that submit most applications for the Portuguese Golden Visa program, the United States and the Vietnam have now risen, replacing the Russian and the South African applications which were in the top five twelve months ago.
