The country of Portugal has been chosen this weekend as the best tourist destination in Europe for the third year in a row, as a part of the World Travel Awards event.
The 2019 ceremony for the “Oscars” of tourism took place in the city of Madeira, and the country of Portugal has been awarded a total of thirty nine prizes, which is three more than the previous year.
The countries of Austria, Turkey, England, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Germany, Spain. Greece, Norway, Ireland, and Italy have also been awarded the best tourist destination prize.
The country of Portugal has won twenty four European and fifteen national awards, including the best City Break destination and the best cruise port,
which has been awarded to the city of Lisbon, as well as the best island destination, which has gone to the city of Madeira. The city of Quinta do Lago has won this year’s award for the best beach resort in Europe, and the Quinta da Bela Vista hotel has been proclaimed the best boutique hotel in Europe. The Epic Sana Lisboa hotel has been awarded the best business hotel award, while the Monte Santo Resort has been titled the best romantic resort in Europe. The Passadiços do Paiva, which is located in the city of Arouca, has distinguished itself as the best tourism related property development project, while the city in which it is located has been named the best adventure tourism destination.
Tourismo de Portugal has received the award as the best official travel agency, while the TAP is the best airline in Europe with connections to Africa and South America.
Pedro Siza Vieira, the Deputy Minister of Economy for the country of Portugal, has made a comment in a statement that – “It is a great pleasure to receive Oscars for Best European Destination for the third consecutive year. In recent years, Portugal has become a must-have and irresistible destination, and the fact that we have won this distinction in a row shows that our strategy is right, yields and is consistent –.
