The volume of approvals for the Portuguese Golden Visa program re-surges in the month of June after low levels in the month of May this year.
Following almost a disappointing performance in the month of May, the volume of approvals for the Portuguese Golden Visa program has picked up markedly again in the month of June, as a total of one hundred and eighteen main applicants – which is also the highest figure in the last six months – have received Portuguese residency permits.
Leading the charge were the investors from the country of China – forty five, up from thirty five in the month of May -, and the investors from the country of Brazil – twenty four, up from eighteen in the month of May -. The investors from the country of Turkey have accounted for six Portuguese Golden Visas,
while the investors from the country of Russia and the country of South Africa have obtained three Portuguese Golden Visas each. Raising a total of seventy three million Euros in the month of June alone, and three hundred and seventy two million Euros during this year up to date, the Portuguese Golden Visa program has now reached the total investment figure of more than four point six billion Euros since the inception back in the late 2012, the investment figure out of which nine tenths of investments had found their way into the property market of the country of Portugal.
So far, in 2019, the Portuguese foreigners and borders service – the SEF – has issued Portuguese Golden Visa residency permits to a total of six hundred and twenty one main applicants and one thousand and fifty nine dependents which, on an annualised, basis, would equate to twelve hundred and forty two Portuguese Golden Visas, a figure which is considerably below that of the preceding three years individually.
It is still somewhat early to say, but in case that this trend line maintains itself for the rest of the year, the year of 2019 may have the lowest rate of Portuguese Golden Visa approvals since 2015.
